The International Conference on Theoretical Issues in Sign Language Research series began in 1986 and has become the largest and most important international conference series to focus on research into sign languages. It is held every three years, organised by the Sign Language Linguistics Society and a host country. Presentations cover a wide range of topics, including sign language phonetics, phonology, lexicology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, change, acquisition, variation, multilingualism, neurolinguistics, psycholinguistics, literature, computer science, and documentation.
