Call for papers for a linguistics issue of Acta Philologica

Acta Philologica is an academic journal of the University of Warsaw, which for the last 47 years has published scholarship in the fields of literary studies and linguistics. 

We are indexed by CEISH (The Central European Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities) and Index Copernicus.

We accept manuscripts in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Hungarian, Finnish, and Polish.

We welcome academic articles on all aspects of general linguistics. 

Submission guidelines for authors

1. Manuscripts for consideration should be submitted to katarzyna.foremniak at uw.edu.pl.
2. The manuscript cannot duplicate authors' previously published work or be under the process of consideration in another journal.
3. Submissions should be sent as email attachments using a standard word-processing program and doc., docx., or RTF formats. They should be named with the name of the author. Authors should remove all other personal data from the file itself. 
4. The length should not exceed 15 standard double-spaced pages (6,000 words).
5. Authors should also submit an abstract in English, outlining the main arguments and conclusions of the article, and key words.
6. The text should be double-spaced and justified, with 2.5 cm margins.
7. Authors should use Times New Roman font, size 12.
8. All references should be in the form of in-text citations. Both citations and bibliography should follow APA guidelines, available at http://www.apastyle.org/.
9. Long and numerous quotations in foreign languages should be provided in footnotes, whereas their translations in quotation marks should be used in the main text of the article. Short quotations may be translated in brackets without quotation marks, for example: 
- Emerson opens his famous essay with the epigraph ''Ne te quaesiveris extra'' (Do not seek outside yourself), which comes from the Satires of Juvenal (54).
10. All words and phrases used as linguistic examples as well as foreign words should be put in italics, for example: 
- In Italian, the suffixes -accio, -accia mark contemptuous attitude.
- The proper Spanish term for 109 is mil millones (billion), not billón (trillion).
11. All illustrations and tables should be numbered and captioned, for example: 
- Table 6. Ratios of real expenditure per capita in the United States
- Figure 3. Performance of various similarity measures for noisy data 
All figures should be referred to in the text of the article, for example:
- The first column of table 2 displays…
12. When selecting images, authors should take copyright into consideration. 
13. If the article requires sections, authors should use the following format: 
- 1., 2., 3.,
- 1.1., 1.2., 2.1., 2.2.
