Postdoctoral Research Fellow

The Department of Applied Linguistics at the University of Massachusetts
Boston invites applications for a temporary non-benefitted postdoctoral
researcher in applied linguistics under the direction of Drs. Avary
Carhill-Poza and Panagiota Gounari to begin September 1, 2015. Areas of
inquiry include adolescent English language development, sociocultural factors
in language development, and the role of technology in schooling emergent
bilingual students.

The postdoctoral researcher would join a vibrant community of scholars focused
on the education of linguistically diverse urban youth in the Department of
Applied Linguistics and would be expected to contribute to the intellectual
life of the department. Primary responsibilities will include data collection,
analysis, and reporting as well as other project-specific work.

Requirements

Candidates should have a PhD in Applied Linguistics, Psychology or Social
Science research by the time of appointment. Research experience with
linguistically diverse students in school settings is a plus, but not
required. Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but bilingual/bicultural candidates
in other languages will also be considered.

Application Instructions

interests describing qualitative and quantitative research skills, a
curriculum vitae, 2 articles, and three recommenders.

- Temporary, non-benefitted.  
- Full-time, 40 hours/week.
- Hourly rate: $20.19/hour, based on NSF/NIH guidelines. 
- Unrestricted funding.
