Subject: Workshop on Verb Second (V2)

Friday 24 July 2015 - Sunday, 26 July 2015 at Bergische Universität Wuppertal

URL: http://www.linguistik.uni-wuppertal.de/v2

The aim of this workshop is to discuss various aspects of the verb second (V2) phenomenon in the Germanic languages. By assembling different perspectives with respect to this topic, we intend to take further steps towards a general theory of the verb second phenomenon in connection with the sentential (illocutionary) force of a clause, and how it is constituted.

The workshop program consists of the following talks:

- Ulrike Freywald: Verbzweit und (syntaktische) Integration
- Hans-Martin Gärtner: Abhängige Verbzweitsätze im Isländischen
- Joachim Jacobs: V2 als Hauptsatzphänomen
- Horst Lohnstein: V2 als Bindungsphänomen
- Svetlana Petrova: Zur Diachronie von V2-Komplementsätzen im Deutschen
- Cecilia Poletto: The Romance Way to Verb Second
- Marga Reis: Zu einigen Fällen adverbialer V2-Subordination im Deutschen
- Joachim Sabel: Verbstellung als Folge unterschiedlicher Schnittstellenbedingungen
- Hubert Truckenbrodt & Frank Sode: Wurzelphänomene und die Syntax der Perspektive

If you are interested in our workshop, please feel free to join us!
