The Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics, Faculty of Liberal
Arts & Professional Studies, York University, invites applications from
qualified candidates for a one-year Sessional Assistant Professor position in
Spanish to commence July 1, 2015. A PhD in applied linguistics, foreign
language pedagogy, or second language acquisition with a focus on Spanish or
Spanish Linguistics is required. Candidates should have native or near-native
fluency in Spanish and English. Applicants must show evidence of an active
research program as well as excellence or the promise of excellence in
teaching. Applicants should be prepared to teach a range of undergraduate
Spanish language sequence courses, as well as an upper-level course in
teaching Spanish as a foreign language. The successful candidate will also
coordinate multi-sectioned courses within the program. Experience in language
program coordination and instructional technology is desirable. The
appointment carries a teaching load of three full courses or the equivalent.
