Description:

Candidate’s Profile
- Holds a PhD or equivalent with a doctoral thesis, with German as the object
of investigation;
- Has at least two years postdoctoral experience at the time of starting the
mandate;
- Has a C2 command of German according to the Common European Framework of
Reference (CEFR) or a native command of German;
- Has completed outstanding academic research documented by recent
publications in widely distributed and peer-reviewed scientific journals and
books both at home and abroad;
- Can present demonstrable research experience in one of the following
research domains of the department, viz. multilingual communication,
translation and interpreting studies or translation/language didactics;
- Candidates are required to possess the necessary didactic skills to realize
academic competencies with university students;
- Having positively evaluated experience with procured and/or organized
education on an academic level is recommended;
- Professionalization of education is recommended;
- An international profile thanks to, inter alia, research experience at
research institutions other than one’s own will be considered an asset;
- Active participation in international scientific conferences and
international (research) networks will be considered an asset;
- A command of Dutch will be considered an asset.

The application must be accompanied by the following documents:

- An outline (1500 words maximum) in which the applicant explains his/her
views on research, education and scientific services in relation to this
vacancy;
- A research proposal (1500 words maximum) on the research which the applicant
wishes to carry out, within the research domain of multilingual and
intercultural communication (cf. research group Intercomm:
http://www.intercomm.ugent.be), or translation and interpreting studies (cf.
research groups EQTIS: http://www.eqtis.ugent.be and TRACE:
http://www.trace.ugent.be), or translation/language didactics (cf. research
group GOLLD: http://www.golld.ugent.be). The research proposal must at least
contain the following components: background; objectives/questions, method,
expected results and feasibility;
- The transcripts required (copies of qualifications)
- A portfolio with additional information about the candidate’s teaching
skills
