Call for Papers:

The 22nd LIPP-symposium will discuss new research approaches in the field of cognitive text linguistics. The title 'Text – World – Models' addresses three essential components of this field of text linguistics: 'texts' as internally structured, more or less distinctive symbolic units, 'cognitive models' as schematized knowledge structure reflected and represented in text types, and 'world(s)' as a basis for a cognitive, cultural and praxeological categorization of knowledge.

The symposium is guided by the following questions: What are the relations between language, perception, and cognitive models? How can texts be understood as symbolic units which represent these cognitive models? Which linguistic features are significant for the constitution of linguistic units as 'text'? To what extent do 'text types' reflect different ways of categorization of cognitive models and how can these be situated in the context of 'speaker/listener worlds'? How are these 'worlds' constituted and socially transmitted, and to what extent do text types and their processing contribute to the conventionalization of text-world relations? To what extent is the 'grammar' of language-specific texts and text types significant for the construction of cognitive models and their categorization? How do discursive features of texts and their speech act character contribute to the construction of cognitive models? How does the episodic, emotive and praxeological knowledge of text produce
r and text recipient contribute to the construction of corresponding 'worlds'?
