Description:

The Angus McIntosh Centre for Historical Linguistics at University of Edinburgh, UK is pleased to announce the availability of a fully funded three year PhD studentship. 

Funding will be available for September 2015 entrants. The successful applicant's primary research focus is expected to be on any aspect of historical linguistics that is within the expertise of the staff of Linguistics and English Language at Edinburgh.
This studentship provides full tuition fees (UK, EU or Overseas) and an annual stipend of £14,000 for three years.

Requirements:
The successful applicant will have a very good undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and ideally will have, or will be studying for, a Masters Degree (or equivalent). Applicants must be entering the first year of the PhD programme in September 2015.

- personal statement;
- research proposal (1000 words); guidance on how to write a proposal is available on our prospective student webpage;
- degree transcripts; please provide transcripts for both your undergraduate and postgraduate degrees; if you are currently studying please provide an interim transcript or outline of your current programme of study;
- references (2 x academic reference letters); can be submitted directly by referees if preferred.
