WebInterpret is a leading provider of e-commerce translation and localization
solutions. Our company facilitates cross-border trade and allows speakers of
most European languages to overcome language barriers and conduct business
with each other. Our operations center is in Warsaw, Poland, and the company
is headquartered in Sophia Antipolis, France. Over the last year, WebInterpret
has grown by more than 300% and shows no signs of slowdown. As a result, there
are a number of opportunities for talented and dynamic researchers to be a
part of our project and help us deal with real-world challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities:
To support the company's fast-paced growth, we are currently looking for 2 NLP
interns to join our team. They will work closely with our larger Translations
Team, consisting of 10+ language engineers and developers, and assist them in
the following tasks:
- perform detailed, precise error analyses of both machine translation and
human translation output;
- formalize linguistic phenomena using appropriate scientific concepts;
- make proposals for improvement based on conclusions garnered from the data;
- translate insights into actionable technical specifications for our
engineers;
- strive to find the optimal solution for each problem in terms of impact,
performance, and simplicity;
- help with maintenance tasks for the current system.
 
Duration: from a minimum of 2 months up to a maximum of 6 months.
Location: Paris (+1/2 week(s) travel to Warsaw, Poland)

Requirements:
- student in Natural Language Processing or Computational Linguistics; 
- good programming skills, preferably in Python; 
- familiarity with regular expressions; 
- basic knowledge of the Unix command line; 
- attention to detail; 
- very strong analytical skills; 
- focus on quantitative analysis and / or familiarity with statistics; 
- familiarity with the basic concepts of linguistic technology: chunking,
rule-based and / or statistical systems, lexicons and ontologies, etc; 
- good level of English.

The following skills are not required but will be considered a plus:
- background in Machine Translation; 
- background in software localization, translation, or Computer Assisted
Translation (CAT) tools (e.g. translation memories); 
- knowledge of Git; 
- knowledge of MySQL; 
- knowledge of foreign languages (preferably German, French, Italian or
Spanish).
