Description:

With its 3,800 employees and 30,000 students, the University of Graz provides

research and education location.

The Department of English Studies is looking for an University Assistant with
doctorate (40 hours a week; Fixed term position; position to be filled as soon
as possible). The section of Applied English Linguistics at the Department of
English Studies, University of Graz, is looking to fill a full-time (40 hours
per week) fixed term (4 years) postdoctoral researcher position. 

The section, headed by Professor Ineke Mennen, is primarily concerned with
research into second language acquisition of prosody with a particular
emphasis on the acquisition of intonation. 

Job specification

- Undertaking individual research and contributing to collaborative research
into the second language acquisition of segmental and suprasegmental features.
- Teaching courses on B.A. level (4 hours/week).
- General organizational and administrative duties and evaluative measures.

Professional qualifications

- Doctoral degree in English/American Studies, linguistics or a related field,
with a specialisation in experimental phonetics 
- Research background in acoustic phonetic analysis and intonational analysis
and expertise in PRAAT scripting and statistical analysis of data.
- Very good command of English
- Good command of German

Classification

Salary scheme of the Universitäten-KV (University Collective Agreement): B1

Minimum salary

The minimum salary as stated in the collective agreement and according to the
classification scheme is EUR 3546.00 gross/month. This minimum salary may be
higher due to previous employment periods eligible for inclusion and other
earnings and remunerations.
