Description:

The research group 'Referenzkorpus Frühneuhochdeutsch' at the German Department of the University of Potsdam, Germany, has an opening for a doctoral position in Early New High German syntax. 

If possible, employment should begin by 01.07.2015. The position is for 26 hours of work per week (65%). The Salary Scale is 13 TVL. The funding of this position is limited two years.

The research group aims at building a morphologically and syntactically annotated reference corpus of Early New High German. The key duties of the position include the following responsibilities:

- The PhD researcher will conduct original research on topics in Early New High German syntax.
- Coordination, guidance and support of the student annotators.
- Contribution to quality assurance (consistency of annotations, annotation guidelines).
- Presentations at (inter-)national conferences and workshops on (the annotation of) Early New High German syntax.

We welcome applications of candidates holding a Master's degree (or equivalent) in German language studies, Linguistics or a related field. We expect a successful candidate to have a solid background in the syntax of German, and a genuine interest in historical linguistics. Previous experience with corpus research methods will be an advantage.
