Call Deadline: 15-Jul-2015

Meeting Description:

This is the 14th edition of the International Annual Symposium of the “A. Philippide” Institute of Romanian Philology – the IASI Branch of the Romanian Academy. It will include several sections: Romanian language, literary history and criticism, ethnology, Romanian culture and identity. As in the previous editions, the organizers will offer a special attention to those participants involved in presenting the results of different grants and projects recently accomplished or still ongoing (partial results).

On 31 August The Day of the Romanian Language is celebrated as a festive Romanian day -- a decision adopted by law.

On 26 September The Day of Europe’s Languages is celebrated – which started in 2001 by decision of the Council of Europe.

The organizers of the symposium suggest a balanced approach of the role of preserving the national identity through language and culture in the international context of globalization and of celebrating the two events already mentioned.

All the participants are kindly asked to send us or bring books written or edited by them and journals with their articles in order to be displayed at the symposium exhibition.

The participation fee is 40 Euros (or 180 Lei); the attendance without presentation of papers is free of charge. The participation fee includes the publication of the symposium proceedings, the postage for sending the book to the participants, as well as other expenses (certificates of attendance, refreshments during breaks, the cocktail reception and others). All the articles will be evaluated in the peer-review system. The texts of the participants who will not be present at the symposium will not be published in the symposium proceedings. We shall accept only unpublished articles and also articles that have not appeared as variants or have not been translated into foreign languages before.

Travel and accommodation expenses will be supplied by the participants.

Call for Papers:

You are kindly asked to send the title and the abstract of your paper to the Organizing Committee to the address contactelingvistice at gmail.com by 15 July 2015.

Presentations should not exceed 30 minutes (including questions and debates). You are expected to send an abstract of 20 lines or more accompanied by a (basic) reference list and a brief presentation of your activity.

You will receive the decision of the Scientific Committee by 25 July 2015.
