Description:

The Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics in Frankfurt am Main investigates the attentional, cognitive and affective mechanisms of aesthetic perception and evaluation. 

The institute currently offers positions for PhD projects regarding the aesthetic perception and evaluation of language and literature. Positions are awarded for a period of three years with a possible extension of up to one year. Starting date is flexible.

Applicants should hold an MA, have an excellent record in their respective disciplines (literary studies, linguistics, computational linguistics, psychology, or neuroscience), be interested in cooperations across disciplines and prepared to work in a multi-language environment.

Applicants should submit an 8-10 page prospectus of their research project along with two reading samples. 

Salaries are determined following the salary scale TVÖD 13 (Bund); they come with substantial additional social benefits. PhD positions are 50% positions.
