Description:

Full time. Interim Assistant or Associate Professor of Linguistics /
Department of Intercultural Studies. 1 year position (possibility for second
year). 

For more than 125 years, Houghton College has prepared students to become
global contributors through its rigorous academic programs and vibrant,
residential college community rooted in a broad Christian tradition. 
 
Responsibilities involve a 3/3 teaching load across two semesters. Courses to
be taught could include Phonetics, Grammar (from a Functional perspective),
Phonology, Introduction to Linguistics, Language Acquisition,
Sociolinguistics, a TESOL-Linguistics course, English Grammar, and possibly
Intensive Academic English for international students.

Qualifications: Candidates with PhD in Linguistics completed by August 2015
and experience in fieldwork and in TESOL are preferred. Candidates with an MA
in Linguistics and outstanding teaching experience and/or fieldwork may also
be considered. Houghton College faculty are expected to possess strong
communication and interpersonal skills, and outstanding teaching abilities.

Salary and Academic rank will be determined based on experience.
