Abstract:

This book is a collection of author’s papers, 23 in total (some were not previously published, and some are modified versions of previously published papers mostly in proceedings of various conferences). The papers deal with three main topics, so the book consists of three parts. The first part (Theoretical linguistics: noun phrases, quantified phrases, numerals, negation) consists of 12 papers, all of them dealing with various theoretical issues in the framework of generative grammar (the structure of noun phrases, quantified phrases, numerals, negation, topic, focus, etc. in Bosnian and Slavic languages in general). The second part (Corpus linguistics: the Oslo Corpus of Bosnian Texts) deals exclusively with corpus linguistics. Various topics are discussed based on the Oslo Corpus of Bosnian Texts. This part consists of five, previously unpublished papers. Finally, the third part (On agreement: theoretical, corpus and experimental studies) consists of six papers all of them deali
ng with various aspects of agreement in Slavic languages and specifically in Bosnian. Some of these papers are theoretical, others represent investigations of agreement phenomena using the Oslo Corpus of Bosnian Texts, and two concluding papers are based on experimental studies of agreement phenomena in Bosnian.

The author has Ph.D. in linguistics (Indiana University, 1986) and teaches linguistics at the University of Sarajevo.
