Meeting Description:

Nominals is the second international thematic workshop of GETEGRA (Grupo de Estudos em Teoria da Gramática) and aims at bringing together studies on the morphology, syntax and semantics of noun phrases on the generative grammar perspective.

GETEGRA International Workshops are biannual. The first one, named Agreement, was devoted to the discussion of agreement in natural languages and it was held in Recife – Brazil, on February 6-7, 2014. This second edition, devoted to the study of nominals, will be held on March, 17 – 18, 2016, in Recife – Brazil.

Call for Papers:

GETEGRA invites submissions on the study of nominals in natural languages, from a generative perspective, that seeks to touch upon issues such as the following (but not only):

- Adjective placement inside noun phrases
- Argument structure in nominals
- Bare nouns/ proper nouns
- Definiteness
- Determiners
- Extraction from nominal domains
- Functional projections inside nominal domains
- Movement in nominal domains
- Nominal agreement
- Nominalizations
- Possessors/ genitive constructions
- Predicate inversion inside noun phrases
- The features of nominals
- The parallelism between clause and nominal projections

Submission Guidelines:

Abstracts are invited for 30-minute talks (plus 10 minutes for discussion). There will also be a poster session.

Dates:

Submission deadline: December 31, 2015
Speakers will be notified of their abstract reviews by January 15, 2016.

Abstract Guidelines:

The official language of the workshop is English, thus abstracts must be delivered in this language. They must be anonymous and are not to exceed two pages in length (including examples and references, on the second page), A4 or letter-size, 12-point Times New Roman font, with 1-inch/2,5-cm margins, single line spacing. Submissions are limited to 1 individual and 1 joint abstract per author, or 2 joint abstracts per author. The abstracts should be sent to the email nominals2016 at gmail.com up to December 31, 2016.
