Meeting Description:

This conference brings together communication scholars who investigate language in many social contexts, using quantitative or qualitative methods. Research in this field is multi-disciplinary, with particularly strong contributions from communication studies and communicology, social psychology, sociolinguistics, and applied linguistics. It focuses on 
the perceptions, motivations, norms and contextual factors that influence interactants in the communication process, as well as on language and communication behavior and its consequences.

Keynote Speakers: Ng Bee Chin & Francesco Cavallaro (Singapore); Don Taylor (Canada), James Liu (New Zealand), Surin Pitsuwan (Thailand), Maggie Pitts (USA) & Camilla Vasquez (USA)


Call for Papers:

Papers and symposia are invited for submission. Full Call for Papers and further conference details(registration, venue etc.) are available at http://ialsp.org/conferences/ 

Individual paper submissions should be a single file containing:

- the names and complete contact information of all authors with a clear indication of who will present the paper
- a 250 word (maximum) abstract of the presentation that outlines research aims, methods, findings and implications clearly.

Symposia/panel submission should be a single file containing:

- name(s) and complete contact information of the convener(s)
- a 250 word maximum introduction to the thematic content of the symposium with title
- a list of the individual papers, including titles and brief abstracts of each (250 words max.), the names, complete contact information for all authors, clearly indicating the presenter(s). A typical symposium is 3-4 presenters with an introduction and a discussant

Student-authored paper submissions should be a single file containing:

- the names and complete contact information of all authors with a clear indication of who will present the paper and which authors are students
- “Student paper” in the subject line
- a 250 word (maximum) abstract of the presentation that outlines research aims, methods, findings and implications clearly.

Note, student papers, defined as:

(a) papers where the author(s) is/are student(s) at the time of submission, or (b) papers where the first (lead) author is a student at the time of submission, may be considered for the Tamar Murachver Student Paper Award.
