It is a two-day conference on creativity in translation/interpretation and interpreter/translator training in all its various forms focused on current theory and practice. It will take place at Università Suor Orsola Benincasa, Naples, Italy.

Keynote speaker: Michael Cronin, Chair, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dublin City University, Ireland.

Call for Papers:

1. Papers
Paper proposals are invited for a two-day conference on creativity in translation/ interpretation and interpreter/translator training in all its various forms. Contributions might  address, for example, any of the following themes and debates from a contemporary perspective:

- The Translator as a Creative Writer
- Translation and the Theory of the Model Reader
- Censorship and manipulation
- Socio-cultural diversity and translation
- Creativity in the translation of dialects, sociolects and ethnolects
- Literary Translation and Creativity: Creativity as a strategy for innovation in systems that are in crisis; Creativity as a way of destabilizing received meanings and creating alternate views of reality, also in post-colonial contexts
- AVT Translation: Creativity and language transfer on screen: dubbing, interpreting, narration, opera and theatre surtitling, subtitling, voice-over, localisation, fandubbing, fansubbing; AVT and globalisation, cultural transfer and nationalism;Innovation and new technologies: formats, platforms, 3D
- LSP Translation and Creativity: the relationship between writing and specialist translation;between pro-fessional communication and specialist translation; Suppression as a Form of Creativity in Technical Translation
- Translation and professional practice: Interpreter and Translator Training: strategies to develop creativity; Language and institutional demands in professional contexts; Conceptual metaphors linked to translation and their effects on practice

The focus will be on current theory and practice (although references to the past within the scope of a discussion are of course acceptable).

We welcome contributions from both researchers and translation practitioners, as well as from translation agency managers and publishers.

Length of Presentations:
Papers will be 20 minutes with 5 minutes for questions and discussion.

2. Reading (creative) Translations:

Translation practice and creativity: if you have translated any texts (literary or otherwise) 'creatively'; if you have loved other people's translation choices, you are invited to participate in the conference with a ''Reading or a Reading/Commenting Moment'' which cannot exceed 10 minutes. 
If you wish to take part, please submit a short abstract describing what you have done (or the translation you have loved). Max 2 A4.

1. Communications
Quelles sont les questions actuelles soulevées par la créativité en traduction/interprétation et dans la formation des interprètes/traducteurs sous toutes ses formes? Quels sont les tendances contemporaines? Les débats et les enjeux? Les communications pourront porter, entre autres, sur les points suivants:

- Le traducteur comme créateur
- La traduction et la théorie du lecteur modèle
- Censure et manipulation
- Diversité socioculturelle et traduction
- Créativité dans la traduction de dialectes, sociolectes et ethnolectes
- Traduction littéraire et créativité : la créativité comme stratégie d’innovation dans des systèmes en crise ; la créativité comme moyen de déstabiliser le sens  et de créer des représentations nouvelles du réel (y compris dans la littérature post-coloniale)
- La traduction audiovisuelle : créativité à l’écran: doublage, sous-titrage, sur-titrage (théâtre, opéra), voice-over, localisation, fandubbing, fansubbing, traduction audiovisuelle et globalisation, transferts culturels et nationalismes, innovation et nouvelles technologies (formats, plateformes, 3D)
- Prestataires de services de traduction et créativité : rédaction et traduction spécialisées, communication et traduction spécialisée, la non-traduction comme forme de créativité en traduction technique
- Traduction et pratiques professionnelles : formation des traducteurs et interprètes, développement de la créativité ; exigences linguistiques et institutionnelles en situations professionnelles; métaphores conceptuelles liées à la traduction et leur(s) effet(s) sur la pratique

Dans tous les cas, les communications porteront sur l’époque actuelle (même si les références au passé, au sein de ces communications, seront bien entendu les bienvenues).

Nous sollicitons des contributions aussi bien d’universitaires que de praticiens de la traduction, de responsables d’entreprises de traduction ou encore d’éditeurs.

Les communications n’excéderont pas 20 minutes (+ 5 mn pour les questions éventuelles)

2. Lectures de Traductionscreatives: 

Pratique de la traduction et créativité : si vous avez traduit « créativement » des textes (littéraires ou autres), si vous avez aimé des solutions traductives d’autrui, vous êtes invités à participer au colloque avec une lecture ou une lecture/commentaire qui ne pourront pas dépasser 10 minutes.
Si vous souhaitez participer à la lecture d’une traduction (de vous ou d’un-e autre), merci de décrire brièvement ce que vous avez réalisé(ou la traduction que vous avez aimée). Max. 2 A4.
