Meeting Description:

The Pronunciation in Second Language Learning and Teaching (PSLLT) conference PSLLT is an annual meeting held in North America that focuses on the exchange of research on pronunciation pedagogy and development. The theme of the 2016 conference is The Role of Technology in L2 Pronunciation Teaching and Learning. This theme is timely: In the last five years there has been an astonishing growth in smartphone apps and websites geared to second language (L2) pronunciation, or accent reduction.

In addition to the plenary, the regular refereed sessions, and the poster session, there are two other key features to this conference: a Roundtable of international experts in L2 pronunciation research and technology, and a Round Robin session for practitioners in which several teacher educators will provide Tips and Strategies for evidenced-based approaches to teaching pronunciation.

Call for Papers:

The 8th Pronunciation in Second Language Learning and Teaching Conference invites proposals for papers and posters on all topics related to naturalistic pronunciation acquisition and classroom pronunciation learning. We especially welcome proposals for papers on L2 pronunciation and technology. Possible paper topics include the use of technology in research and/or teaching of L2 pronunciation, descriptive and experimental studies, re-examinations of key research findings (e.g., intelligibility, comprehensibility and accentedness) in languages other than English, and innovative approaches to teacher education.

In addition to papers related to pronunciation and technology, the conference invites proposals for papers or posters on any aspect of pronunciation research, teaching, and learning. Papers and posters will be delivered in English. Deadline for abstract submission is April 8, 2016. Notifications of acceptance will be made by May 12.

Abstracts should be given a descriptive title, be double-spaced, have no more than 250 words (including any references) and should specify the type of format desired:

A. Presentation (20 minutes plus questions)
B. Poster (a dedicated 90 minute poster session)
C. Presentation/poster (either is ok)
D. Teaching tips

Abstracts should be submitted through http://linguistlist.org/easyabs/PSLLT2016
