Meeting Description:

The Department of Preschool Education and the Department of Philology of the University of Crete are pleased to organize the 7th Modern Greek Dialects and Linguistic Theory Conference (MGDLT7) in Rethymno, Crete, Greece, between 06-08 October 2016. 

Aim of the conference is to highlight the importance of Modern Greek dialects for linguistic theory and promote the study of dialectal variation. The main conference will be preceded by a workshop on “Dialects in Education” on Thursday October 6, 2016.

Call for Papers:

Abstracts for 25 oral papers and 15 posters presenting data and theory in Modern Greek dialects in the areas of phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, discourse analysis, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, historical and contact linguistics are invited to be submitted. An abstract of maximum of 500 words in English or Greek may be submitted. Each author can submit maximally 2 papers, one single-authored and/ or one joint- paper, or two joint papers. The languages of the conference are English and Greek. The deadline for the submission of abstracts is April 15, 2016. Notifications of acceptance will be sent out by May 31, 2016.
