Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) is a young and research-intensive university on a rapid rise globally. It is also placed 1st amongst the world’s best young universities. The School of Humanities and Social Sciences at NTU is inviting applications for full-time Lecturers/Coordinators position in Japanese (1 position) and Korean (2 positions) Language in the Centre for Modern Languages. 

Lecturer in Japanese (1 position)
Lecturers in Korean (2 positions)

We are seeking an experienced lecturer capable of teaching introductory to advanced Japanese/Korean to tertiary students. Knowledge in current trends in second/foreign language teaching methodologies is preferred. Candidates should have proven track-record in designing meaningful application of multimedia course materials and knowledge of new technologies in language instruction. The positions are offered on a three-year renewable contract basis.
 
Selection Criteria:

- Postgraduate qualifications, preferably an MA or PhD, in Japanese/Korean as a foreign language, Japanese/Korean Linguistics or in Japanese/Korean studies

- Native or near-native proficiency in written and spoken Japanese/Korean 

- Experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching Japanese/Korean, preferably at tertiary level

- Experience in developing Japanese/Korean language curriculum and materials, including e-learning materials 

- Experience with multimedia and computer-based instructional technologies

- Ability to coordinate large courses
- Good command of English

The School currently offers electives in 13 modern languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Singapore Sign Language, Spanish, Thai and Vietnamese) and there are plans to increase the number of languages offered in the Centre. The Centre places great importance on enhancing the intercultural knowledge and skills of the learners as well as their linguistic competence.
