Meeting Description:

We are proud to announce that the 9th International Conference on Construction Grammar (ICCG9) will be held at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, Brazil, from 5-7 October 2016. The history of the International Conference on Construction Grammar dates back to 2001, when the first conference was organized in Berkeley, California, by Hans Boas and Mirjam Fried. Since then, ICCG has become one of the most important fora for the discussion of research in Construction Grammar, with conferences being held every two years at major universities in North America, Europe and Asia. In its ninth edition, ICCG adds a new country, Brazil, and a new region, South America, to the list, as evidence of the worldwide growth of the research in Construction Grammar.

2nd Call for Papers:

We are pleased to announce the first call for papers and theme sessions for the 9th International Conference on Construction Grammar (ICCG9), to be held at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, Brazil, from October 5-7, 2016. 

ICCG9 will cover a broad range of topics related to the research on Construction Grammar and Frame Semantics and welcomes the submission of abstracts for both long and short presentations, as well as theme session proposals. Potential topics include constructional and/or frame-based approaches to morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, typology, language variation and change, computational modeling, corpus linguistics, language acquisition and learning etc. All abstracts and presentations must be in English.

Long presentations may be allocated both in general and theme sessions. Presenters will be allowed 20 minutes for the presentation, followed by 5-7 minutes for discussion. 

Short presentations will be allocated in the 3-minute madness session. Presenters will have three minutes to present their research, and, after the session, a feedback round will provide the opportunity for the audience to interact with presenters. This session is a forum for the presentation of incipient graduate research, and/or research projects at an early stage of development.

Theme sessions will be included in the main conference schedule and may vary on length (from 7 to 12 slots) and format (with or without intro and concluding sessions). Each slot in a theme session fits a long presentation, followed by discussion.

Abstract Submission:

All abstracts – including theme session proposals – must be submitted electronically through EasyAbs: http://linguistlist.org/easyabs/iccg9. Only PDF files will be accepted. The submission period for long and short presentations is August 10, 2015 to March 31, 2016. Theme session proposals should be submitted between August, 10, 2015 and January 31, 2016.

Guidelines for Abstract Submission:

Abstracts for both long and short presentations must not exceed either one page of A4 or 400 words (title, examples, figures, keywords and references included). A list of three to five keywords must follow the abstract. References are optional and, if included, must follow the keywords.
Authors should use 10 point Arial font single-spaced throughout the abstract. Margins should be set to 2.5 cm (1 inch) all around.

Since all abstracts will be submitted to blind review by two reviewers form the Scientific Committee, no author-specific information may be available both in the text of the abstract and in the PDF file metadata.

All author-specific information will be entered through the EasyAbs web page. When submitting an abstract, authors must also specify whether they are submitting a paper for a long or short presentation.

Guidelines for Theme Session Proposal Submission:

Theme Session Proposals should not exceed 2 pages of A4, and must include: the session title, an abstract, three to five keywords, a list of references, a list of potential presenters, featuring authors names and affiliation and the titles of their papers.

The conveners of the accepted theme sessions are responsible for managing abstract submission and rating for their sessions. 

Accepted Theme Session Proposals will be made available on the conference website on March 1, 2016. Authors whose papers were listed as part of theme sessions may still submit their abstracts to the general sessions, if the theme session is not accepted.
