Description:

As a Junior Linguist, you will be reviewing and annotating linguistic data and carrying out a number of tasks to improve natural language processing and speech technology.

This includes:

- Reviewing and annotating linguistic data
- Labeling text for semantic, syntactic and morphological characteristics
- Providing transcriptions for lexicon entries according to guidelines
- Deriving NLP data for new and on-going projects

Job requirements:

- Native-level fluency in Japanese
- Business-level proficiency in English (in particular reading and writing)
- Degree in Linguistics or Computational Linguistics with knowledge of phonology, semantics, syntax, morphology or lexicography
- Experience in annotation work
- Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts; should have an interest in natural language processing or speech technology
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Keen interest in technology and computer-literate
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills

Employment Status:

This position is temporary - up to 24 months or until the project finishes. The contract period will be between one and three months and will have to be renewed every time. The working location will be at our client’s office in Tokyo.
