Meeting Description:

Basic and clinical scientists in the field of language, speech and communication will join us on Canada’s scenic East Coast for four days of plenary lectures, panels, and scientific presentations. In addition to clinical phonetics and linguistics (phonology, semantics, grammar, pragmatics), conference topics will include voice, prosody, resonance, stuttering, reading & writing, AAC, sign language, multilingualism, psycho- and neurolinguistics, language revitalization, and speech science and technology. Assessment and treatment methodologies in speech-language pathology and audiology will also be included.

Pre-Conference Workshops:

The 16th ICPLA conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada will include preconference tutorials on June 14, 2016.  The aim of the tutorials is to give participants the opportunity to familiarize themselves with particular methodological developments in the field and/or to gain more advanced insights.

Each tutorial will offer both introductory and more advanced sessions, to take place during the morning and afternoon, respectively.

- Morning: Introduction to CLAN and the CHILDES database
- Afternoon: Advanced CLAN tutorial

PhonBank tutorials (Yvan Rose):
- Morning: Introduction to Phon

2nd Call for Papers:

ICPLA 2016
Deadline: Nov. 15, 2015

The deadline is approaching for proposal submissions to the 16th International Clinical Phonetics and Linguistics Association (ICPLA) Conference to be held in Halifax, Canada on June 15–18, 2016. You are invited to submit proposals for oral or poster presentations.  Please note that the deadline for submissions is November 15, 2015.

- Oral Presentations: Presentations will last 20 minutes, including discussion time. 
- Poster Presentations: Posters will be set up for a whole day with a specific time period during which presenters are expected to be present at their poster. 

Guidelines for Submission:

Abstracts should be based on research that is completed or clearly in progress, with a well-formulated research question(s), the theoretical or methodological approach, description of the data (if the work is empirical), and results/conclusions. The word limit is 500 words (excluding title and references—optional, limit of 5). These are due November 15, 2015.

The official language of the conference is English; all posters, presentations, and abstracts must be in English.

All proposals should be submitted via http://linguistlist.org/easyabs/ICPLA2016.
