Subject: Call for Chapters: L2 Portuguese Linguistics

Preliminary Book Title: Linguistic Approaches to Portuguese as an Additional Language

This prospective book is currently under consideration by John Benjamins Publishing.

The research group UPLA (Uso e Processamento de Língua Adicional), based at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Gande do Sul, invites you to contribute a chapter in the area of Portuguese as an Additional Language from a linguistic perspective.

The proposed book will include headlining chapters from the following renowned professors:

- Heliana Mello (Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil)
- Rafael Salaberry (Rice University, USA)
- Michael Iverson (Indiana University, USA)

The aim of the book is to present theoretical and applied accounts of the acquisition of Portuguese from a variety of linguistic perspectives. In particular, the volume intends to showcase the breadth of research being carried out on topics ranging from the acquisition of aspects from the main language modules (syntax, morphology, semantics, phonology, pragmatics) to applied perspectives involving corpus-based approaches and experimental methodologies. Moreover, we invite studies addressing a variety of learning contexts (Brazilian, non-Brazilian, study abroad, etc.) and a variety of learner types (bilinguals, L2-Ln, heritage speakers).

The target audience includes researching scholars with a background in second language acquisition studies interested in learning more about the acquisition of Portuguese from linguistic perspectives.

The head editor of this book is Karina Molsing. Proposals and queries should be sent to the following email address: kvmolsing at gmail.com
