Description:

Description of Duties

Provides research and development support for projects implemented by CAL’s Adult Language and Literacy Education team. Responsible for carrying out project activities as assigned and for contributing to the completion of project tasks and deliverables.

Primary Responsibilities

English for Heritage Language Speakers (EHLS) Program:

1. Establish and maintain relationships with heritage community organizations and their media nationwide.
2. Plan and carry out EHLS information dissemination and recruiting activities, including face-to-face information sessions in U.S. cities outside the Washington, DC area and web-based information sessions provided in collaboration with program partners.
3. Implement an annual national-level advertising campaign, including design, development, and placement of print and online advertising.
4. Coordinate development and production of program awareness materials, including brochures, posters, and other display materials.
5. Maintain program website and social media presence.
6. Work with a team to coordinate applicant selection meetings, application review, and applicant language testing. 
7. Participate in coordination of telephone interview process, including training interviewers, conducting interviews, coordinating rating process, and rating interviews.
8. Assist with research on program outcomes and language acquisition at high levels of proficiency.
9. Support collection and analysis of formative and summative assessment and job placement data.
10. Monitor travel, advertising, and print material budgets.
11. Communicate with program partners, potential scholars, and external publishers, consultants, and testing services as appropriate.
12. Contribute to development of reports.
13. Collaborate with and provide support to other program staff as needed.

Others projects in the Adult Language and Literacy Education Program:

14. Assist with language proficiency assessment of program participants.
15. Provide technical facilitation for webinars.
16. Support development and implementation of annual marketing and outreach to existing and potential clients.

Minimum Qualifications

- Master’s degree (MA/MS) in a relevant field (e.g. linguistics, education, immigrant integration) with 2 years of related experience; or Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in a relevant field with 6 years of related experience.
- Experience with language teaching/assessment, communications/marketing, and/or managing websites and social media.
- Experience collecting and organizing data, conducting research, and/or writing/editing reports.
- Experience with WordPress, MailChimp, and/or Adobe creative suite.
- Experience living abroad.

Desired Qualifications

- Proficiency in a language other than English.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English. 
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). 
- Strong interpersonal, analytical and writing skills plus ability to work well on a team.
- Must be flexible, organized, attentive to detail, and able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. 
- Must be available for domestic travel (up to 25% time, primarily February-June) for EHLS program marketing and recruiting purposes.
