Call for papers: Language and Law / Linguagem e Direito

The editors of Language and Law / Linguagem e Direito (LL / LD), the international bilingual bi-annual online journal dedicated to forensic linguistics / language and the law, invite original contributions from researchers, academics and practitioners alike, in Portuguese and in English. Articles are welcome in any area of forensic linguistics / language and the law for Volume 2.2, to be published in January 2016.

Previous volumes include articles by Lawrence M. Solan, Maria Lúcia de Castro Gomes & Denise de Oliveira Carneiro, Alison Johnson & David Wright, Rui Sousa-Silva, Gail Stygall, Marcos Rogério Ribeiro & Cristiane Fuzer, Elisabeth Carter, Débora de Carvalho Figueiredo, Edilson Vitorelli, Jakub E. Marszalenko, Helen Fraser, Eugenia San Segundo & Pedro Gómez-Vilda, Pedro Gómez, Eugenia San Segundo, Luis M. Mazaira, Agustín Álvarez & 42 Victoria Rodellar, Cintia Schivinscki Gonçalves & Cláudia Regina Brescancini, Paloma Alves Miquilussi, Marilisa Exter Koslovski & Denise de Oliveira Carneiro and Aline de Paula Machado & Plínio Almeida Barbosa. The forthcoming issue, which will be published soon, includes original contributions of Janet Ainsworth, Mel Greenlee, Janny H. C. Leung, Manuel Triano Lopez, Jennifer Glougie and Caroline Hagemeyer & Malcolm Coulthard.

Potential contributors might like to know that issue 3.1, to be published in June 2016, will be a special issue devoted to Legal Translation and Interpreting. This issue will be guest edited by Professor Sandra Hale and Dr Luciane Frohlich.

Language and Law / Linguagem e Direito is completely electronic and open access, thus being freely available for everyone to download at http://ler.letras.up.pt or http://tinyurl.com/llldjournal. The journal is extremely flexible to individual author's requirements, since it has no printing costs. It not only can publish quickly all the high quality articles it receives, but also it can publish long appendices, reproduce illustrations, photographs and tables in colour, as well as embed sound files and hyperlinks.

The Journal Editors invite authors wishing to publish in Language and Law / Linguagem e Direito to submit their articles by email, in MS Word or Latex format, to the journal's email address llldjournal at gmail.com. Manuscripts vary in length, but we suggest that they should be between 4,500 and 8,000 words and be preceded by an abstract of no more than 150 words in the language of the article and, if possible, in the journal's other language as well. The abstract should also include up to five keywords. Contributions should indicate in the body of the accompanying email the name, institutional affiliation and email address(es) of the author(s). Articles submitted for publication should not have been previously published nor simultaneously submitted for publication elsewhere.

In submitting an article, authors cede to the journal the right to publish and republish it in the journal's two languages. However, copyright remains with authors. Thus, if they wish to republish, they simply need to inform the editors.

All papers will be double blind peer-reviewed by the end of November 2015 and the issue shall be published by the end of December 2015.
