Description:

The Department of English at Mississippi State University seeks a tenure-track assistant professor in TESOL and English Linguistics, beginning fall semester, 2016. PhD in Applied Linguistics, Second Language Education, Linguistics, English with a Linguistics concentration, or similar field required; ABDs will be considered. 

Primary teaching responsibilities will include courses in TESOL theory and pedagogy, general linguistics, and syntax. The successful candidate will carry a 2/2 teaching assignment in the first year and a 3/2 (or 2/3) load in subsequent years. We seek candidates with expertise in TESOL and with relevant college teaching experience. Research interests open, but English language emphasis preferred. Publications and professional service are required for tenure and promotion. 

Salary will be competitive. Affordable and comfortable faculty housing is usually available in the first year of employment. Mississippi State University is a Carnegie Doctoral/Research-Extensive institution with approximately 22,000 students on the main campus.
