Description:

The Division of General and Computational Linguistics in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Tuebingen, Germany is searching for a computational linguist whose research experience complements existing strengths in the department. While computational linguists working in any subarea of the field are encouraged to apply, preference will be given to candidates who specialize in one or more of the following areas:

Computational lexicography, computational semantics or computational corpus linguistics.

Knowledge of German is highly desirable. Duties for this post include teaching (one 4-hour course per semester) and related student advising and departmental duties, as well as independent research and participation in externally-funded, on-going research projects. The starting date for the position is March 1, 2016. The initial period of appointment is for three years, with the possibility of renewal for another three-year term.

The position is at the rank of 'Akademischer Rat auf Zeit' (PhD or equivalent required) or at the rank of 'Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter' (MA or equivalent required). The salary is determined by the German civil servants standard (Besoldungsgruppe A 13 for appointment as Akademischer Rat, or Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L for appointment as Wiss. Mitarbeiter) and starts at 44.000 (Wiss. Mitarbeiter) or 49.000 (Akademischer Rat) Euro per year. The exact amount depends on experience and marital status.
