Description:

The University of Massachusetts is offering a limited number of graduate teaching assistantships to students admitted to the MA or PhD programs in Hispanic Linguistics in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures for the upcoming 2016-2017 academic year.

Graduate students in Hispanic Linguistics may specialize in areas such as applied linguistics, dialectology/sociolinguistics, language acquisition (L1/L2) , or phonetics and phonology/prosody. The Hispanic Linguistics is a multidisciplinary program and students are encouraged to take classes in the Department of Linguistics, Anthropology, Psychology and Education.

Qualified applicants will be considered for a graduate teaching assistantship, which includes a tuition waiver as well as a monthly stipend during the academic year. Graduate assistants teach undergraduate courses offered as part of the Spanish language program. 

Demonstration of native or native-like fluency in Spanish is necessary prior to appointment. Students applying for the PhD program should have an M.A. in Hispanic linguistics or linguistics.
