Description:

Position Summary: The Department of Romance and Classical Studies at Michigan
State University is seeking to fill up to three academic-year instructors of
Spanish. This 9 month position will begin August 16, 2016. The individual(s)
selected will teach three courses per semester, or equivalent, at the 100, 200
or 300-level, and will be expected to participate in activities related to the
Basic Spanish language program. This is a fixed-term position with potential
for annual renewal based on performance and availability of funding. A
Master’s degree is required. Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications.

Minimum Qualifications: M.A. degree or equivalent in Applied Linguistics,
Second Language Acquisition, Second Language Teaching, or related field;
demonstrable knowledge of contemporary communicative language teaching; oral
ability in Spanish at the Superior level on the ACTFL scale; willingness to
work with other instructors in an articulated proficiency-oriented and
communicatively-driven program under the leadership of the Language Program
Director; two years of experience in college-level instruction in Spanish;
demonstrated excellence in language teaching. 

Desired Qualifications: Certification in ACTFL Oral Proficiency Testing;
knowledge of and experience with educational technology; experience with
hybrid language instruction in a communicative program; ability to teach
French.
