About the University:

The University of South Carolina, founded in 1801, has a tradition of more
than 200 years of educational excellence. The University is now a
comprehensive research university, with more than 350 degree programs offered
on the Columbia campus through its 14 degree-granting colleges and schools.
Degree programs extend from arts and humanities to health and physical
science, business and engineering, many of which are nationally and
internationally ranked. The University is committed to advancing its
international activity.  International Students are important to the
university community, with a population of 875 graduate students and 381
undergraduate students from more than 100 countries of origin.

Job Description:

This position is primarily responsible for managing English Programs for
Internationals (EPI).  Sound management means maintaining EPI as a financial
asset for the university while ensuring high quality English language
instruction for students preparing to matriculate at the University of South
Carolina.   The director of EPI is charged with recruiting students for its
program, hiring and evaluating personnel, and maintaining accreditation with
at least one of the recognized agencies.  The director of EPI reports to the
University’s Director of Global Carolina and is charged with working
collaboratively with the other directors of programs within Global Carolina.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate in Linguistics or related field. Six years of experience in ESL
instruction, testing and curriculum development.
