Lecturer in Linguistics (1 position)

The Division of Linguistics and Multilingual Studies invites applications for
a full-time lecturer to commence work on 1 January 2017. This is a renewable
position, with possibility for promotion. The appointed candidate is expected
to coordinate and teach courses in the areas of historical, social and contact
linguistics. The ideal candidate is one who is flexible in terms of teaching a
range of different courses and also innovative in coming up with new ones.

This is primarily a teaching position, and the teaching load for a lectureship
is 3 courses per semester. The candidate must be able to teach both core and
elective courses. Please refer to LMS website

taught in the division. The candidate will also be expected to take on some
supervision of final year theses.

Even though this is a teaching position, candidates who demonstrate a
commitment and track record of excellence in research will be preferred.
Research output is necessary for subsequent renewal and promotion. The
candidate should also show experience and competence in working with either
Asian or European languages, preferably both.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Linguistics, and have experience teaching
Linguistics at the undergraduate level. Applicants must include, in their
application, the following:

i. A statement of teaching philosophy and pedagogical approach
ii. A list of courses that the candidate can teach, and this list must include
both core and elective courses offered in the Division
iii. A course outline of a new course currently not offered by the Division
iv. Teaching feedback of past courses taught 

Emoluments

Salary will be competitive and will commensurate with qualifications and
experience. The University offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package.
