Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics; Language Documentation

Call Deadline: 30-Apr-2016

Meeting Description:

We are pleased to announce that the 51st Annual International Conference on
Salish and Neighbouring Languages (ICSNL) will be held August 2016, hosted by
the Tla’amin (Sliammon) First Nation.

The International Conference on Salish and Neighbouring Languages is an annual
conference focused on the documentation, analysis, preservation, and teaching
of Salish and neighbouring languages.

2nd Call for Papers:

Deadline extended until: April 30, 2016.

All papers relevant to the documentation, analysis, preservation, and teaching
of Salish and neighbouring languages are welcome. In addition, we propose a
special focus around the theme of partnership between communities and
linguists. In consideration of this, we encourage submissions that present the
outcome of community-linguist collaborations, and discuss the role of
partnership in language documentation, analysis and revitalization.

All papers submitted by the deadline will appear in a volume of pre-prints,
published by UBC Working Papers in Linguistics. The volume can be ordered when
registering for the conference online, in which case it will be available for
pick up at the conference. A limited number will be available for purchase on
site.

Please note that you may present at the conference without submitting a paper
to the precedings, as you will be able to include your paper in the following
year's precedings. If you wish to present at the conference but do not plan to
include your paper in this year's precedings, please contact the conference
organizers and/or UBCWPL editors.

For authors and presenters from last year's ICSNL (2015): If your paper was
late or did not otherwise appear in last year's volume, we encourage you to
submit these papers for inclusion in the current volume.

Please use the templates and stylesheet found at the UBC Working Papers
website:

http://linguistics.ubc.ca/research-resources/archives-publications/ubcwpl/auth
ors/

Authors may submit in other formats but are then responsible for ensuring
their paper conforms to the stylesheet.

Please submit your papers electronically in .pdf, .doc, or .odt format to
ubcwpl at gmail.com by the deadline.

Conference information will be available soon at: www.icsnl.org

Conference email contact:   Marianne Huijsmans ubcwpl at gmail.com

Please support the LL editors and operation with a donation at:

This year the LINGUIST List hopes to raise $79,000. This money
will go to help keep the List running by supporting all of our
Student Editors for the coming year.

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Indiana University and
as such can receive donations through the eLinguistics Foundation,
which is a registered 501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal
Tax number is 45-4211155. These donations can be offset against
your federal and sometimes your state tax return (U.S. tax payers only).
For more information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact your financial
advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that
they will match any gift you make to a non-profit organization.
Normally this entails your contacting your human resources department
and sending us a form that the eLinguistics Foundation fills in and
returns to your employer. This is generally a simple administrative
procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without
costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if
your company operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
