Full Title: Brill’s Journal of Afroasiatic Languages and Linguistics

Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics

Subject Language(s): Hebrew (heb)

Call Deadline: 01-Sep-2016

Brill's Journal of Afroasiatic Languages and Linguistics is initiating a
thematic issue on the theoretical linguistic study of Biblical Hebrew (eds.
Edit Doron and Tania Notarius).

Biblical Hebrew is the language of the Hebrew Bible and related corpora (such
as epigraphy and Qumran scrolls). The linguistics of Biblical Hebrew,
similarly to other ancient languages, is corpus-based (where both
traditionally transmitted, epigraphic corpora and ancient translations are
relevant), and employs diverse theoretical and descriptive frameworks. It is a
multi-disciplinary endeavor at the intersection of Hebrew studies, Afroasiatic
studies, and comparative and general linguistics.

We seek novel research that explores different topics of Biblical Hebrew
linguistics, employing explicit and sound theoretical frameworks of syntax,
semantics, morphology, phonology and related fields. We also welcome
theoretically-informed contributions on historical and typological comparison
between Biblical Hebrew and other Hebrew periods (Rabbinic, Medieval, and
Modern), and on additional cross-linguistic and Afroasiatic perspectives.

Brill's Journal of Afroasiatic Languages and Linguistics is a peer-reviewed
international forum devoted to the descriptive and theoretical study of
Afroasiatic languages. Its target audience comprises specialists in
Afroasiatic languages and general linguists.

Scope of articles: max 25 double space pages

Language of articles: English

Submission of articles will take place in 3 phases:

1. Please send title and short abstract by 1 September 2016, explicitly
stating the theoretical framework utilized.
2. After approval of topic by the editors, please send final ms by October
2017.
3. Final ms will be peer-reviewed according to Brill's procedure.

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Indiana University and
as such can receive donations through the eLinguistics Foundation,
which is a registered 501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal
Tax number is 45-4211155. These donations can be offset against
your federal and sometimes your state tax return (U.S. tax payers only).
For more information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact your financial
advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that
they will match any gift you make to a non-profit organization.
Normally this entails your contacting your human resources department
and sending us a form that the eLinguistics Foundation fills in and
returns to your employer. This is generally a simple administrative
procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without
costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if
your company operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
