Formal and experimental semantics and pragmatics, with a focus on Slavic
languages.
Pre-conference workshop at FDSL-12 (Berlin, Germany)

The workshop will take place on Dec 07, 2016, at the main conference venue of
the 12th European Conference on Formal Description of Slavic Languages
(FDSL-12).

The goal of the workshop is to gather the community of semanticists and
pragmaticists working on Slavic languages, who, as we perceive it, feel rather
affiliated to the community of general semanticists than to Slavic
linguistics. Therefore, semantics and pragmatics are often in a significant
minority at conferences such as FDSL or FASL. However, there are important
areas in which specifically Slavic languages present interesting evidence and
challenging test cases for semantics and pragmatics: Aspect, genitive of
negation, case semantics, negation, evidentiality, indefinites, (multiple)
wh-questions, referentiality and lack of articles, numerals, plurality,
information structure, etc., to name just a few. A more specific motivation
for the workshop is to be found in the major methodological development within
semantics and pragmatics towards more experimental approaches which has taken
place over the last decade or so. We find it vital that Slavic linguistics
catches up with and reflects upon this development. We invite papers on, but
not restricted to, the above issues in Slavic semantics and pragmatics, and we
especially welcome work combining a theoretical and an experimental point of
view.

Submission Guidelines:

Abstracts must not exceed two A4 pages in length including data and references
and must meet the following format: 2.5 cm or 1 inch margins, single line
spacing, font size no smaller than 12pt, Times New Roman

Abstracts must be anonymous: nothing in the abstract, the title, or the name
of the document (and the properties of the file) should identify the
author(s). Only submissions in .pdf format will be accepted.

An individual may submit at most one single and one co-authored paper. All
abstracts must be submitted online through EasyChair at
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=fdsl12 .

Please make sure you select the Pre-conference workshop as goal of your
submission!

Deadline for Abstract submission: June 30, 2016
Notification of acceptance/rejection: September 2, 2016
