Description:

The Association for Laboratory Phonology and its journal Laboratory Phonology
are looking for a new Administrative Assistant / Editorial Assistant.

This person will:

- Work 12 - 15 hours a week
- Manage the review process of the journal through the Journal Management
System, which requires near-daily monitoring and communication with authors,
reviewers and editors
- Format and edit manuscripts for publication
- Proofread manuscripts before publication
- Answer queries from potential submitters to the journal
- Communicate with the publisher about manuscripts and about issues with
submission website
- Manage the membership database of the association, including sending
notifications to renew and checking eligibility for Student Member status
- Answer queries from members and potential members or redirect queries to the
appropriate member(s) of the Association’s Executive Council
- Occasionally send e-mails from the Executive Council of the Association to
all members of the association

All work will be done from home and there are no fixed office hours.

The successful candidate has at least a master’s degree in humanities or
social sciences. This person is (near) native in English, has experience with
academic writing, and has a flair for language.

Furthermore, this person works very precisely, can manage their own and other
people’s work flow, and can work independently but is also a team player.
Previous editorial experience would be advantageous. Experience with LaTeX is
also considered as a plus.

The successful candidate is eligible to be paid in the US. This person will be
paid monthly on the basis of the number of hours worked in the previous month.
The hourly wage is expected to be in the range of $20-25 (commensurate with
experience).
