CALL for applications: tenure-track position

Job Rank: Associate Professor or Senior Associate Professor (= Asst. Prof or
Assoc. Prof in North America)
Tenure-Track Probationary Period: 3 years (with tenure review taking place
approximately 2.5 years after commencing the position)
Mandatory Retirement Age: 65 (as defined by Japanese labour law)

Starting Date: April 1, 2017 (or as soon thereafter as possible)

Qualifications:

- Doctorate in hand (or proof of imminent completion)
- Experience in teaching English as a foreign language (Experience in EFL for
computer science or engineering students will be viewed favourably)
- Although our primary consideration will be the selection of a candidate with
strength in English language teaching, the CLR has a need for applicants with
training & experience in:
EFL curriculum development
Task-based testing and learning
- Scholarly publications and professional experience
- International experience (preferable for candidate to have lived, studied,
or worked outside one’s native country; experience in Japan will be viewed
favourably)

Duties: Teach 8-9 undergraduate courses per year, including one Thesis Writing
course (some of the others are multiple sections of the same course), with
each course meeting for fifteen 90-minute periods over a given quarter or
semester; develop instruction; serve on committees; conduct and publish
research

Salary: Highly competitive, and based on the university's established salary
scale
