Description:

The Max-Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics in Frankfurt am Main,
Germany, investigates the attentional, cognitive and affective mechanisms of
aesthetic perception and evaluation.

The Institute currently offers PhD positions for projects regarding the
aesthetic perception and evaluation of language and literature. PhD positions
are awarded for a period of three years. Starting date is flexible.

Applicants should hold an MA, have an excellent record in their respective
disciplines (linguistics, computational linguistics, psychology, literary
studies, or neuroscience), be interested in cooperations across disciplines
and prepared to work in a multi-language environment.

Applicants should submit a 5-10 pages prospectus of their research project, or
at least a sketch of ideas, along with two reading samples. 

Salaries are determined following the salary scale E 13 according to German
TVöD (Bund); they come with substantial additional social benefits. PhD
positions are 50% positions.
