Full Title: Crossroads. A Journal of English Studies

Linguistic Field(s): Cognitive Science

Call Deadline: 12-Jan-2017

Crossroads. A Journal of English Studies is inviting submissions for a themed
issue dedicated to Cognitive Linguistics, which is scheduled to be published
in the third quarter of 2017.

Cognitive Linguistics, with its primary assumption that language is embedded
in overall human cognitive capacities, has emerged out of dissatisfaction with
formal approaches to language. It can be seen as a movement that has led to a
range of complementary theories characterized by the same set of guiding
principles and commitments.

We invite papers whose research lies within the Cognitive Linguistics
framework and which address topics that include, but are not limited to:

- Cognitive semantics in the broad sense of the term
- Metaphor and metonymy
- Conceptual blending
- Prototypes and categorization
- Polysemy
- Image schemas and force dynamics
- Embodiment
- Cognitive sociolinguistics
- Cognitive semiotics
- Gesture studies

Abstracts of no more than 400 words (including references) should be sent by
12th January 2017 in .doc format to the following e-mail address:
cognicrossroads at gmail.com

It is expected that any paper submitted to the Journal is original and has not
been previously published. Notification of acceptance will be sent by 30th
January 2017.

Submission deadline for full papers up to 8,000 words (including references)
is 30th April 2017. All research articles will undergo double-blind peer
review, based on an initial editor screening. The reviewers are cognitive
linguistic scholars, including members of the Polish Association of Cognitive
Linguistics, as well as experts from abroad.
