Meeting Description:

A special panel session on Chinese teaching and learning for Non-Chinese
speaking (NCS) students in Hong Kong will be held in the form of workshop
during the ''International Symposium on Chinese in the Maritime Silk Road'',
focusing on studies of Chinese/Cantonese language teaching and learning for
NCS students in Hong Kong, from the perspective of language acquisition or
sociolinguistics.

Tentatively talks will be 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for discussion.  

The ''International Symposium on Chinese in the Maritime Silk Road'' will be
held at The Chinese University of Hong Kong on April 7-8, 2017, which is
jointly organized by the T.T. Ng Chinese Language Research Centre, Institute
of Chinese Studies and the Department of Chinese Language and Literature,
co-organized by the Global China Research Programme and The Chinese University
of Hong Kong Library, and sponsored by the New Asia College. The Symposium
focuses on the linguistic properties of Chinese spoken in the countries and
areas along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.


Call for Papers:

The abstract requirements and the submission procedure for this panel session
are the same as other regular submissions to the Symposium. 

ll submitted abstracts can be written in English or in Chinese and limited to
one single-spaced A4 page. The deadline for submission is on January 9, 2017
and the notice of acceptance will be released by February 13, 2017. Abstracts
should be submitted using the EasyChair page for the conference
(https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=msrchinese2017). Please visit the
website of the Symposium for the details of submission.

Please add ''[NCS Workshop]'' above the title of the abstract submitted to
this workshop. The submission deadline is January 9, 2017. Please visit the
