Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Pittsburgh is pleased to
invite applications from creative, highly-qualified and motivated researchers
for a 2-year Postdoctoral Position. The beginning dates of the appointment
would either be September of 2017 or January of 2018, depending on the
applicant appointed.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant will hold a Ph.D. in linguistics with an emphasis on
working on corpora and on L2 data using computational tools. We value rigor,
an inter-disciplinary approach that accepts diverse theoretical viewpoints,
and a collaborative perspective. The applicant will be working closely with
Professor Alan Juffs
(http://www.linguistics.pitt.edu/people/faculty/juffs.php).  Experience using
CLAN/CHAT or other data coding tools such as those listed on the Weblichtwiki
(http://weblicht.sfs.uni-tuebingen.de/weblichtwiki/index.php/Tools_in_Detail#I
ntroduction), Python and text processing capabilities, and up-to-date
knowledge of statistics is important.

integrate with and benefit from working with Dr. Juffs' other colleagues in
the SLA group at Pitt. Specifically, there is an opportunity to work on a
longitudinal corpus of L2 spoken and written learner language. Other
collaborators include Dr. Na-Rae Han and graduate students. The position may
involve some teaching, but this part of the post-doc is negotiable.
