Description:

The Department of English at Salisbury University is accepting applications
for the position of a tenure-track, Assistant Professor in Applied
Linguistics/TESOL. 

Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate, graduate and/or
cross-listed courses in Linguistics/TESOL in an NCATE/CAEP nationally
recognized program. Participate in the activities and service of the
department and university. Utilize effective teaching and classroom management
strategies which enhance the success of diverse learners.  Position entails
teaching 3 courses per semester. This is a tenure track, full-time, 10-month
position.

Minimum Qualifications: Evidence of successful teaching skills plus a
Ph.D./earned doctorate or ABD in Applied Linguistics, TESOL, Bilingual
Education, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. If ABD,
doctoral degree must be completed by hire date. Candidates should demonstrate
evidence of scholarly/research potential, and provide evidence of successful
teaching experience in either applied linguistics, TESOL, and/or EFL teacher
preparation programs at the graduate or undergraduate level, and/or experience
teaching international, ELL and/or ESL learners.  

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Interested candidates must possess
graduate training in theoretical and applied linguistics; exhibit familiarity
with CAEP/TESOL standards for teacher preparation, and demonstrate evidence of
effective teaching of diverse/international students from multiple linguistic
backgrounds. Candidates should additionally provide demonstrated evidence of
the following: experience teaching a range of courses in applied linguistics,
TESOL methodology and/or EFL pedagogy in face-to-face and/or online formats;
success and record of ongoing research and professional development
initiatives; ability to work collaboratively across university and
international partnerships in program/curriculum development; furnish evidence
of collaborative potential in planning, implementing, and evaluating program
performance standards; demonstrate a team-oriented willingness to participate
in programmatic innovation, and finally,  exhibit knowledge and ability to
participate in ongoing accreditation processes. 

Preferred Qualifications: Expertise in sub-areas to include but not limited
to: sociolinguistics/American dialectology, language teaching pedagogy, and/or
quantitative research methodologies in applied linguistics are preferred.
