Meeting Description:

The ''Culture in Transfer: Translation and Transcultural Communication''
international conference aims to explore the cultural and social aspects of
translation. We especially encourage interdisciplinary and comparative
perspectives in translation studies, literary studies, linguistics, media
studies, and functional translatology.   


Call for Papers:

We invite papers related to the broadly conceived thematic field of Culture in
Transfer. The conference panels will focus on research areas including: 

- Cultural and social aspects of translation (literary translation, legal
translation, technical translation, etc.)
- Translation and creativity
- Localization (software localization, video game translation)
- Translation in the age of New Media
- The translation process as an intercultural dialogue
- Interpreter/translator as a cultural mediator
- The role of an interpreter/ a translator in society
- Contextual aspects of translation
- Translation as/at the crossroads of culture
- Translation and globalization processes
- Other issues on the borders of translation and culture

Contributed talks will be limited to 20 minutes with additional 10 minutes for
discussion. Abstracts of proposed papers should not exceed 250 words
(references excluded). In addition, please include a short biographical note
(approximately 100 words).Selected papers will have an opportunity to be
published in the first issue of a new peer-reviewed academic journal
TranslatoLogica.
