Meeting Description:

This workshop is organized as a pre-conference session of the Language
Documentation and Linguistic Theory 5 (LDLT5) conference and is included with
its registration. The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers who
study information and discourse structuring in the less commonly spoken
languages of the Russian Federation, including both endangered languages and
the languages which can be characterized as socio-linguistically safe. Topics
include but are not limited to:

- Grammatical expression of information structure; the categories of topic,
focus, comment, contrast, etc.
- The interaction of the information structure in a sentence with the wider
discourse
- Reference tracking
- Discourse structure
- 'Common Ground management'


Call for Abstracts:

Abstracts should be submitted using the LDLT5 Easychair site:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ldlt5   

Please indicate “Workshop on information structure and discourse” after the
title of your abstract.

The text of the abstract should be anonymous, a minimum of 11pt font and no
more than one page in length, including references and examples. They should
be in .pdf format and the filename should start with LDLT5-IS, followed by an
underscore and then the first authors' surname, e.g. LDLT5-IS_ashmore.pdf. If
you have a common surname, please also include initials, e.g.
LDLT5-IS_jjones.pdf. 

Presentations will be 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes of discussion. Each
individual may present up to one single authored paper and one joint paper
throughout the whole conference. 

The deadline for abstract submission is Monday 2 May 2016.
