Full Title: 4th EHP Eurolinguistics Conference

Date: 01-Apr-2016 - 03-Apr-2016
Location: Pappenheim, Germany
Contact Person: Joachim Grzega
Meeting Email: grzega at pappenheim.de
Web Site: http://ehp.pappenheim.de/en/research/eurolinguistics-conference/

Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics

Call Deadline: 31-Jan-2016

Meeting Description:

Triggered by the current economic and social developments in Europe, the frame topic for the 2016 Eurolinguistics Conference at the Europäisches Haus Pappenheim (EHP) will be ''European Philology and Societal Issues''.

Call for Papers:

The conference is open to language-related basic research, applied research and interdisciplinary research. Contributions may relate to current topics (such as language and migration) as well as historical topics (such as the reflexion of cultural changes in language); they may cover sociolinguistic issues, rhetorical issues as well as issues of language systems as long as the relevance for European society is made clear. There shall again be a section in which experts and laypersons discuss with each other. It is the EHP’s aim that not only the academic, but also the general public becomes more aware of Eurolinguistic work. Please feel free to pass this invitation on to everyone who might be interested in the conference. Everyone is warmly invited to suggest a paper for the conference. Each topic should be truly European in the sense that it has relevance to all corners of Europe. It seems appropriate to declare those European languages with the largest numbers of speakers our con
ference languages (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Russian). However, the largest number of colleagues will probably be reached when the talk is given in English. Therefore, we would like to ask you to send us, by 31 January 2016, a little proposal with the question(s) you are going to deal with in your paper, the method(s) you are going to use and the Europe-wide relevance.
