Date: 16-Jun-2016 - 18-Jun-2016
Location: Porto, Portugal
Contact Person: Nicolas Hurst

Linguistic Field(s): Applied Linguistics

Call Deadline: 07-Mar-2016

Meeting Description:

Following the implementation of the Bologna Declaration and the application of the Common European Framework of Reference within the context of foreign language teaching and learning in higher education, many changes were certainly brought about at the level of course programmes, methodologies and modes of evaluation (or have they?).

These two relatively recent documents, the consultation of which is unavoidable in both teaching and research, have triggered the need for the creation and use of new technologies and teaching materials, a reflection on classroom management procedures, as well as a redefinition (active or passive) of the career structure of higher education teachers (or have they?).

Call for Papers:

In this context, APROLÍNGUAS invites colleagues, who are affected by these complex issues, to enroll in this International Colloquium and propose a paper in their respective areas of interest in relation to teaching and research in foreign language:

- Foreign Language Teaching Methodologies
- Linguistics in Foreign Languages
- Translation and the teaching of Foreign Languages
- Culture in Foreign Languages
- The role of Literature in the teaching of Foreign Languages
- The career structure and status of teachers of Foreign Languages in Higher Education today.

Papers may be given in Portuguese, English, French, Spanish or German.

Important Dates:

March 7 2016: deadline for paper proposals. Abstracts of 150 words (max) for presentations of 20 minutes (max)
April 4 2016: deadline for notification of acceptance (or not) for papers.
May 16 2016: publication of the definitive programme of the Colloquium.

Proposals for Papers:

Abstracts of 150 words (maximum) in Word format should be submitted with a brief CV (a bio-note of 60 words maximum) to: aprolinguas at gmail.com

Selected papers will be published in the form of an e-book following evaluation by the Scientific Committee.
