Description:

Reed College, a selective undergraduate-only liberal arts institution with a
commitment to teaching excellence and scholarship, invites applications for a
Visiting Assistant Professor position in Linguistics, with a focus on
sociolinguistics. Appointment is for the 2016-17 academic year, to commence in
August 2016.

This is an 80% full-time teaching position, with full benefits. The successful
candidate will join a small but comprehensive undergraduate linguistics
department and offer four semester courses: two sections of our spring
introductory course (Introduction to Language, Culture and Society) along with
two upper-division courses in sociolinguistics. The candidate will also
supervise year-long senior thesis projects on an array of topics within
linguistics.

Candidates with expertise in experimental methods, quantitative analysis, and
the structure of understudied languages and language families are particularly
encouraged to apply. Experience in teaching and advising student research
projects is also highly desirable. PhD or ABD in Linguistics required for
appointment.
