Meeting Description:

AFLA is an organization which promotes the study of Austronesian languages
from a formal perspective. Since the initial meeting in 1994, AFLA has served
as a forum for the presentation of new research in all of the core areas of
formal linguistics, including (but not limited to) phonology, linguistic
typology, morphology, semantics and syntax. AFLA has a history of bringing
together leading scholars, native speaker-linguists, and junior scholars in
the formal study of Austronesian languages.

AFLA 23 welcomes the following keynote speakers:

- Dr. Edith Aldridge (University of Washington)
- Dr. Paul Kroeger (Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics/SIL
International)
- Dr.Hooi Ling Soh (University of Minnesota) [special session on discourse
particles]


2nd Call for Papers:

Deadline extended to 20 January 2015.

Abstracts are invited for 20-minute talks (plus 10 minutes for discussion) and
poster presentations on any aspect of formal linguistics (acquisition,
morphology, phonetics, phonology, psycholinguistics, syntax, semantics, etc.)
of any Austronesian language(s). Abstracts on experimental or psycholinguistic
research of any Austronesian language(s) are also invited.

We ask that you limit your submissions to one single-authored abstract and one
co-authored abstract, or two co-authored abstracts. Abstracts should be in PDF
format, with all non-standard fonts embedded. Abstracts should be limited to a
maximum of two A4 (or letter-sized) pages (for all text, data, figures, and
references), with 2.5 cm (or 1 inch) margins and in 12 pt font.
