Meeting Description:

The Symposium on American Indian Languages (SAIL) is dedicated to discussion
of the documentation, conservation and revitalization of the native languages
of the Americas.

SAIL also provides a forum for the exchange of scholarly research on
descriptive and/or theoretical linguistics focusing on American Indian
languages.

SAIL brings together scholars, members of the indigenous communities, native
speakers, educators and language activists who are interested in sharing
experiences and best practices on topics related to language documentation,
conservation and revitalization.

Building on RIT's rich history of educational outreach to Native American
communities, SAIL welcomes the active participation of indigenous communities,
native language speakers, and those interested in revitalization and
preservation of their heritage languages and cultures.

- Ofelia Zepeda, University of Arizona, Tucson


2nd Call for Papers: 

Abstracts are invited for papers on any aspect of linguistic analysis,
language documentation, and revitalization of American Indian languages.

Special Session: Language Revitalization Strategies in the Americas:
Challenges, Success and Pitfalls

The special session will be devoted to papers focusing on language
revitalization methods.

Parasession: Documentation, Description & Theory

The parasession welcomes papers on language documentation (especially those
that make use of digital technologies), and descriptive and/or theoretical
work that draw their data from fieldwork.

All papers will be considered for inclusion in a peer-reviewed publication.

Submission Process:

Abstracts should be up to 500 words or less (excluding examples and/or
references) for papers.

Abstracts should include:

- title
- name of author(s) and affiliation (if any)
- session (special or parasession)
- paper presentations will be 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for
discussion.
- lease submit your abstract in .pdf format by email to sail at rit.edu (with the
subject: “Abstract - SAIL2016”)
-submission Deadline: January 31, 2016.

(Authors will be notified of acceptance by the end of February 2016.)
